Drool and Desires

With the latest round of rumors for new devices, and those released, I am finding myself nowhere near as excited as I used to be. Part of this is contributed to the fact that Palm used to release new and innovative devices twice a year. This year has been an exception and now we are awaiting Palm's Press Release in a few days to see what's behind the curtain. Like most of my associates, I am not that excited at the idea of another Treo. Recently, the new Treos have been a copy of the previous model with few improvements. Likewise, I am not enthralled with the idea of an "updated" TX or Lifedrive; more memory is always nice, but right now a removable battery would be an absolute blessing for Palm. In other words, take the best part of the Treo series and start implementing them into handheld models.

If I had the money (if my wife would let me), I would be purchasing a Treo 700wx and an rx5915 (when released). I gave up my Treo 700p and that was a mistake. I am going through serious Treo withdrawals right now.

Approaching Uniformity

Am I the only one to notice lately how new devices look decidedly like other companies? Take for example the Nokia 6670, which was released before the HP rx5915.

What about the new Palm Treos (680 and 750v) looking like an Orange SPV.

Do these companies copy each other styles to infringe on their marketing, or is it simply a fact of the same design manufacturer for two different front-end companies?
